Constantly Engage
Sun Tzu said, “Reduce the hostile chiefs by inflicting damage on them; and make trouble for them, and keep them constantly engaged; hold out specious allurements, and make them rush to any given point.”
In business, that means you should constantly have your competitor under attack. You should constantly look for ways to make the leaders of the competing firm tired, worn out, frustrated, and more. The way to to that is to look for ways to make trouble for them. You might hire someone to go there and start a union. Wal-Mart hates unions and that could cause some real trouble. Maybe Kmart should help some Wal-Mart employees start a union.
A business that is rushing around a lot will become weak. The goal is to wear them down, while you sit back and rest and nourish yourself. When they become very weak and you are certain of your advantage, you should strike swiftly. In other words, reserve some strength for a final blow to eliminate a competitor.
