Dissimulation
Dissimulation is the art of concealing oneself to hide a true identity. The art of war is knowing how to disguise oneself. Troops should practice the art of hiding their true identity.
In business, many times a company will need to disguise many aspects of their operations. For example, some companies want to be seen as American made and yet get almost all their parts from foreign companies. One great example of this are American car companies. The car may be put together in the United States, but it comes from all over the world. In addition, many American cars are not even made in the United States. The car companies disguise their behavior. They want you to think that the car is made in the USA and is supporting the American workers. This is half true and half lie. This is an example of a company disguising their true nature, to help their marketing scheme work.
Companies will often employ similar techniques. Companies that tell the truth are often punished. Consumers may avoid purchasing from them. They may have to lower prices and profitability. It is sad, but if everyone out there is using deception against you, it makes it nearly impossible to make money by telling the truth.
