Earth
Sun Tzu said, “Earth comprises distances, great and small; danger and security; open ground and narrow passes; the chance of life and death.”
Much of understanding war is to know how far to travel with the army and how fast to travel and on what ground to walk upon. Understanding the ground is very important because it can give you great advantage. Sun Tzu gives many recommendations about how to attack on various kinds of land formations and how to cover distances.
In business, the understanding of the landscape is also vitally important. You must understand the speed of your competitor, the distance you must travel, the speed at which you can travel, and to know when to attack, when to evade, or when to fight.
